The piping system consists of high-grade NiroSan® press fittings with an EPDM (=ethylene propylene dien rubber) moulded sealing ring and NiroSan® stainless steel system pipes according to EN 10312. All NiroSan® press fittings are made from the premium stainless steel type 1.4404 / AISI 316L (for pressing components) and 1.4408 (for precision cast threaded stainless steel components). The material 1.4404 contains at least 2.3 % molybdenum, yet less carbon than the conventional type 1.4401. Thereby these materials are not only of equal value but in addition, material 1.4404 / 316L stands out on account of its considerably higher corrosion resistance. The NiroSan® press system and its components are certified in accordance with the rules and regulations of all important European certification bodies. The Aerolift pipe lifting solutions are applied for many different situations and places. During production, storage, transhipment, and internal transport. For this specific situation we designed a lifting solution to handle bare and coated pipes aboard the ship. The ship, The Amazon, was converted to an ultra-deepwater J-Lay vessel. Our vacuum lifting devices are installed on 4 cargo hold cranes. In tandem mode the cranes will be used to load and unload 24-meter-long pipes in a cargo. The lifting devices are designed to limit deflection of double joint pipes or to handle the entire pipe by vacuum only.

Beltseal Beltseal is a gasket “belt” produced with a special hydro-expansive rubber that reacts upon coming into contact with water that increases its initial volume. Thanks to its geometry, Beltseal is very quickly applied directly to PVC piping without additional processing. It hermetically seals any discontinuities that could easily be found in the concrete due to the presence of PVC conduit pipes. In many cases, such discontinuities could pass from one side of the masonry to the other and thus seriously compromise the waterproofing of the masonry itself. There are three sizes available which are respectively suitable for diameter pipes: 70/90 mm, 110/125 mm and 160/200 mm. The hydroexpansive capacity of Beltseal has been laboratory tested with two different types of water: demineralised and with a highly basic pH (to simulate conditions in contact with concrete). Expansion tests showed a respective change in volume of 300% and 250%. For underground concrete constructions with conduit pipes, where the wall is in direct contact with the ground and where there are no layers of waterproofing outside the masonry itself: basements, cellars, underground garages, below-ground and cellar environments, etcetera.
