Our range of products includes corrosion-resistant alloys, heat-resistant alloys, non-magnetisable alloys, hard-wearing alloys and multiple special nickel- and cobalt-based alloys. We also make cast ferrous materials designed to handle exceptionally high levels of stress corrosion from JUNKERALLOY® nickel-based alloys. Carl Schmidt Sohn AG – tradition since 1829. Carl Schmidt was a qualified blacksmith when he founded CARL SCHMIDT SOHN together with his son in 1829. Its name would go around the world, would become a brand and endures to this day. In its early days, the young company initially specialised in the manufacture of swords. Thanks to its geographic location next to the Wupper river and the local deposits of iron ore and wood for coal, the city of Solingen in western Germany had ideal conditions for metalworking. Carl Schmidt and his son ran the company extremely successfully from the outset. After just a year, they employed 100 blacksmiths, grinders and labourers. Its close proximity to the city of Cologne is virtually perfect for its extensive bulk production and distribution because Cologne is currently one of the largest and most prosperous trading centres in Germany. This meant that products from CARL SCHMIDT SOHN travelled all around the world from the beginning. Cutting tools from Solingen would soon be considered as hallmarks of the best quality and workmanship. What's more, it achieved this reputation at a time when it took a lot of time for news to spread. We provide products both for retail and directly for end customers. Our company was founded in 1945 as a metalworking company with subdivisions for fencing and door construction. Even in its early years, the company incorporated a small mechanical engineering department, in order to design wire processing machines for in-house use. In the 1970s, wire weaving developed into an equally important source of income for the company. In 1978, the first fully automatic production facility for corrugated grids and stamping grids was built, the company relocated to Erkrath and new markets were opened up thanks to the company concentrating on manufacturing wire meshes. In 1995, the product range was expanded to include spot-welded grids and profile edgings. Manufacturing is now carried out on four fully automated production lines.

Founded in 1964 by Karl-Heinz Burre (Dipl.-Ing.), Burre Hydraulik began operations in 1965. The original idea of an engineering office was quickly rejected and its own small manufacturing facilities began. The first developments comprised control valves for hydraulic excavators, explosion-protected solenoid valves and diaphragm valves. In 1972, the company moved into the newly constructed production hall on the site on which Burre Hydraulik's headquarters still stand today. A 540 m² production area allowed more space for putting the founder's innovative ideas into practice. Burre Hydraulik thus designed and produced items including explosion-proof solenoid valves for the refuelling systems of diesel locomotives belonging to Deutsche Bahn. But Karl-Heinz Burre realised quickly that the future lay in hydraulic control systems and equipment, and he orientated the company accordingly. He accepted the challenge here and often entered uncharted technical territory. He therefore had a significant influence on the automation of machinery for the textile industry. But he was also successful in other technical areas. For example, he developed an automatic scuttle for seagoing vessels. The production area also grew consistently in line with this development, and is now over 5000 m².
