Sucralose is a type of artificial sweetener commonly used in the food industry and designated E955. Sucralose is made by treating sucrose with chlorine. The result is a zero-calorie sweetener that is about 600 times sweeter than regular sugar, but has no bitter aftertaste. It has a shelf life of four years.
